SMM Panel Scams in India: 7 Warning Signs to Watch For

Team SMMBolt · Updated 18 June 2026 · 6 min read

Wherever there's demand, there are scams. These are the ones we hear about most from Indian users.

1. "Login with Instagram to get free followers"

Apps and sites that ask for your Instagram username and password in exchange for "free followers" are using your account to follow other people — and sometimes taking it over completely. No legitimate panel ever needs your password.

2. Pay-first on WhatsApp

Someone in a WhatsApp group offers 10K followers for ₹199, asks you to pay to a personal UPI ID, and disappears. With no website, no order ID and no wallet, you have no way to follow up.

3. "Verified blue tick for ₹2,000"

Verification on Instagram and Facebook is through Meta Verified (paid subscription) or the official notable-account process. Nobody can sell you a guaranteed tick.

4. Too-good-to-be-true pricing

"1 lakh real Indian followers for ₹500" is not possible with real accounts. You'll get bots that drop within days — if anything arrives at all.

5. Fake "Instagram support" accounts

DMs from "Instagram Support" saying your account will be deleted unless you click a link are phishing. Instagram contacts you through in-app notifications, not DMs from random accounts.

6. Panels with no policies

A real business tells you its terms, refund rules and contact details. If there's no terms page, no refund policy and no email address, think twice.

7. Recharge "bonuses" that can't be used

"Add ₹1,000, get ₹2,000" offers where the bonus can only be used on the worst services, or expires in a day.

How to stay safe

  • Never share passwords or OTPs.
  • Start with the minimum top-up.
  • Place a small test order.
  • Use panels where UPI payments credit automatically and refunds go to your wallet without arguments.
