How to Complete 4,000 Watch Hours on YouTube Faster

Team SMMBolt · Updated 2 September 2026 · 6 min read

4,000 hours sounds like a lot because it is: 240,000 minutes. A 5-minute video needs 48,000 full views to get there on its own. So the strategy is about minutes per viewer, not just views.

What counts

  • Public long-form videos and live stream recordings watched in the last 12 months.
  • Not counted: Shorts views, private/unlisted videos, deleted videos, and ads views on some campaign types.

1. Make longer videos

A 20-minute video with 50% average retention gives 10 minutes per viewer — four times what a 5-minute video gives.

2. Go live

Live streams of 1–2 hours stay on your channel as videos and keep collecting hours. Q&As, study-with-me, gaming and cooking streams all work.

3. Build playlists

Group related videos so one view turns into three. Turn on autoplay-friendly titles like "Part 1, Part 2".

4. Use end screens and cards

Point each video to the next one. Every extra video watched adds minutes.

5. Watch-time services

Watch-time services play a long public video and add hours at a steady daily pace — on SMMBolt, 1,000 quantity = 1,000 hours. You need a public video of the length the service specifies (usually 60 minutes+). Many creators use these to cover the last 1,000–2,000 hours.

Don't forget the content review

Hitting 4,000 hours gets you to the review — it doesn't guarantee approval. Make sure the channel has original, policy-safe videos.
